Run the Installer Package
|

The installation package
will take approximately 10 to 20 minutes to extract onto your system
depending on the speed of your computer and the installation options
you select. During the extraction, you will be given three
installation options: Complete, Custom or Typical. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Select Complete the
first time you install Blue Sky POS (either on a Server or computer
that will act as both Server and POS Register). The Complete option
installs the following components: (Note: the installer will skip
numbers 3 and 4 if your computer already includes those components) |
|
| |
- Blue Sky POS Software (System
Manager and POS)
- Data Import Utility
- Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition
(the “database”)
- Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0
|
|
| |
Select Custom if
you want to change the default installation path (C:/program
files/Blue Sky POS) and or select the Blue Sky POS components you wish
to install. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Select Typical if
you are installing Blue Sky POS on a second POS Register. This option
will install only the Blue Sky POS software and skip the database
install. The second register will use (or point to) the database
installed on the first register. Once the extraction is complete, you
will see two icons on your desktop as follows: |
|
| |
|
|
| |
 |
|
| |
Click on the Blue Sky POS
icon. If your product is unregistered, you will be told each time you
click on the Blue Sky POS icon how many days remain in the trial
period. The 30 day trail software is a fully functional version, so
you can use it with no limitations until it expires. See the licensing
section below for instructions on how to license your software. |

Demo Database |
Top |
| |
The application will
default to a demo database for evaluation and training purposes. The
demo database logins are listed below. When you are ready to set up
your live company, proceed to the
Quickstart section of this manual.
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
Demo data passwords are:
- Cashier = 789
- Manager = blank [enter nothing]
- Supervisor = 999
|
|
| |
Note: If you are already live
and want to bring back the demo data for training purposes, go to
System Manager->Utility and 1) make a backup of your live data by
selecting 'Database Backup, then 2) select 'Database Restore' and
restore the demo file that was created when you first started setting
up your system. The file name will be BlueSkyPOS_Demo_mm-dd-yyyy
time. After you are finished with the demo data then restore your
live company file using the same process. |

Licensing |
|
| |
The 30 day trial version
of Blue Sky POS is a fully functional system you can use until it
expires. To license your software, complete the

and Blue Sky POS will email you your registration code after verifying

Installing
Additional Register or Back Office |
Top |
| |
To add an additional
register or back office, first download and install Blue Sky POS
software on the second or subsequent computer following the procedure
outlined earlier in this chapter. For networking purposes, assume the
first computer you installed Blue Sky POS software on will be the
"Server" and all other computers (i.e. additional registers or back
offices) added to your network will be "Clients". The Server will
house the database, act as a register, and all Clients will use "or
point to" the Server database over the local area network. Make
sure to turn off Windows Firewall on both Client and Server. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Before you can add a
Client, you have to first enter in the Server computer the name of the
Client you plan to add as follows: |
|
| |
|
|
| |
- In System Manager on the Server
computer, select System->Network Configuration->Register Master and enter the name
of the additional computer, for example Register 2 or Back Office.
|
|
| |
 |
|
| |
|
|
| |
- Next, on the Client computer, go to
System Manager->Network Configuration->Network Connection.
- Click the drop down arrow in the
'Your Server Name' field and select the Server you wish to connect the
Client to. There will be a brief delay while the system locates the
Servers on your network. Select your server then select 'Test
Connection'. Contact your network professional, reseller or Blue Sky
POS if you are unable to connect.
- Lastly, select 'Your Register Name'
and select the name of the Client you are adding (the name you setup
in Step 1 above), then save your settings.
- Test your connection again by
setting up a new product on the Client and then seeing it appear on
the Server.
